At Rākau, our journey began with a simple yet profound goal: to create products that enhance your space while honoring and protecting our environment. Inspired by the beauty of our Tūrangawaewae—Ōpuke (Mount Hutt) and Piwakawaka (Methven)—we set out to design environmentally friendly wooden disks that capture the essence of these sacred places. Each disk features intricate laser-cut designs and is infused with hand-selected scents, creating a unique blend of artistry and sustainability. Our mission extends beyond crafting decorative items. Imagine our beautiful natural environment—the forests and shrublands that, alongside our society, create a slice of paradise unique to the world. Native fauna and flora once covered 80% of New Zealand, but this number has alarmingly decreased to just 33%. These statistics deeply shocked us and ignited our drive to make a difference.
